Kor Dirge is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.
Official card text
All damage that would be dealt this turn to target creature you control by a source of your choice is dealt to another target creature instead.
How it works : Kor Dirge
Original English text — Wizards of the Coast / Scryfall
- #1· Wizards of the Coast
You choose the two target creatures as you cast Kor Dirge, but you choose the source as it resolves.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #2· Wizards of the Coast
The damage dealt to the second target creature is dealt by the original source of damage, not by Kor Dirge.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #3· Wizards of the Coast
If the second target creature is no longer on the battlefield as the damage is dealt, the damage isn't redirected away from its original recipient. The same is true if the second target creature isn't a creature (or a planeswalker) at that time.
No other card is named in this ruling.
