Body Double is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.
01
Official card text
You may have this creature enter as a copy of any creature card in a graveyard.
How it works : Body Double
Original English text — Wizards of the Coast / Scryfall
- #1· Wizards of the Coast
Treat Body Double as though it were the chosen card entering. Any "As this card enters," "This card enters with," and "When this card enters" abilities of the chosen card will work.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #2· Wizards of the Coast
You don't have to choose a card to copy. If you don't, Body Double enters as a 0/0 creature and is probably put into your graveyard immediately, unless something is increasing its toughness to keep it alive.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #3· Wizards of the Coast
If Body Double copies a Vesuvan Shapeshifter which then copies another creature and then is somehow turned face down, the Body Double is now a face-down Vesuvan Shapeshifter and may be turned face up via its Morph ability.
No other card is named in this ruling.
