Common Courtesy — ruling 1

You do have to ask yourself permission to cast spells, although you can give yourself a one-time permission that applies to all future spells you cast.

Common Courtesy : règles, fonctionnement et interactions (MTG)

Common Courtesy is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.

Official card text

Whenever a player casts a spell without asking your permission while casting it, counter that spell. When a player asks you permission to cast a spell and you refuse, counter that spell and sacrifice this enchantment.

How it works : Common Courtesy
