Mind Flayer is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.
01
Official card text
Dominate Monster — When this creature enters, gain control of target creature for as long as you control this creature.
How it works : Mind Flayer
Original English text — Wizards of the Coast / Scryfall
- #1· Wizards of the Coast
If Mind Flayer leaves the battlefield or you lose control of it before its Dominate Monster ability resolves, control of the target creature doesn't change at all.
No other card is named in this ruling.
