Revenant is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.
Official card text
Flying Revenant's power and toughness are each equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
How it works : Revenant

- #1· Wizards of the Coast
The ability that defines Revenant's power and toughness applies in all zones, not just the battlefield.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #2· Wizards of the Coast
As long as Revenant is in your graveyard, its ability will count itself.
No other card is named in this ruling.
- #3· Wizards of the Coast
If Revenant is dealt lethal damage at the same time as another creature you control, both die at the same time. The other creature won't die in time to raise Revenant's toughness.
