Carte Magic Aqueous Form

Aqueous Form is one of those cards players keep asking about. Here is, in plain words, what its official text says, the rulings published by Wizards of the Coast, and the combos players actually run.

01

Official card text

Enchant creature Enchanted creature can't be blocked. Whenever enchanted creature attacks, scry 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put that card on the bottom.)

Complete guide

Aqueous Form is a versatile blue Aura that turns any creature into an elusive threat while providing consistent card selection. By granting both unblockable status and a repeatable scry trigger, it ensures your damage gets through and your future draws remain optimal.

Making Contact

The primary function of Aqueous Form is to make the enchanted creature unblockable. This is a static ability that continuously applies as long as the Aura is attached. Opponents cannot declare any creatures as blockers against the enchanted creature, allowing you to bypass even the most complex board states.

The Scry Trigger

Whenever the enchanted creature is declared as an attacker, a triggered ability goes on the stack. You look at the top card of your library and decide whether to leave it on top or put it on the bottom. Because this happens during the 'Declare Attackers' step, you get to scry before your opponent acts or before you draw for your next turn.

Timing and Targeting

Aqueous Form requires a legal target creature when you cast it. If the creature is removed in response, the Aura spell will fail to resolve and go to the graveyard. However, once it is on the battlefield, the scry trigger will always fire as long as the creature is legally declared as an attacker.

Interaction examples

Filtering for Answers

If you have Aqueous Form on a creature and Mystic Remora on the field, you can use the scry trigger when you attack to check the top of your library. If you see a card you don't need, you can bottom it, increasing the chances that the card you draw from Mystic Remora's trigger (when an opponent casts a spell) will be the answer you need.

Tutor Preparation

Suppose your Urza's Saga is on its second lore counter. During your turn, you attack with a creature enchanted by Aqueous Form. The scry trigger allows you to look at your top card. Since you know Urza's Saga will trigger its III chapter on your next turn to shuffle your library, you can safely put a card you don't want on the bottom, knowing the upcoming shuffle will refresh your deck anyway.

How it works : Aqueous Form

Original English text — Wizards of the Coast / Scryfall

  1. #1· Wizards of the Coast

When you scry, you may put all the cards you look at back on top of your library, you may put all of those cards on the bottom of your library, or you may put some of those cards on top and the rest of them on the bottom.

No other card is named in this ruling.

  2. #2· Wizards of the Coast

You choose how to order cards returned to your library after scrying no matter where you put them.

No other card is named in this ruling.

  3. #3· Wizards of the Coast

You perform the actions stated on a card in sequence. For some spells and abilities, that means you'll scry last. For others, that means you'll scry and then perform other actions.

No other card is named in this ruling.

  4. #4· Wizards of the Coast

Scry appears on some spells and abilities with one or more targets. If all of the spell or ability's targets are illegal when it tries to resolve, it won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won't scry.

No other card is named in this ruling.
